Thanks to the support of donors just like you, we were recently (April 2023) able to help save the Ruldolf Jenny Collection by relocating the most comprehensive archive of orchid literature in the world to the Lankester Botanical Garden in Costa Rica (Latin America's leading institution for the conservation and study of orchids.)

The Conservation Endowment provides "lasting" support for vital orchid conservation efforts.
Our Conservation Endowment is a special fund that allows us to support conservation projects from the capital gains generated by the fund.
Translation - When you contribute to our Conservation Endowment, you are supporting numerous conservation projects for DECADES without the source of those funds ever running out.

As the world's foremost authority on orchids and orchid growing, we have the opportunity to support vital conservation projects in the U.S. and abroad.
In 2019 alone, we supported five (5) conservation projects involving local community-based organizations around the world, from the creation and support of an orchid reserve in Colombia to supporting students in Peru who are trying to make an orchid reserve coexist with agriculture in their village.
Orchid conservation is a cornerstone of our mission, and together we can make a lasting difference for generations to come.

"Orchids are fascinating. They captivated me at a very early age when I found cypripediums in the northern part of Michigan. Frankly I knew little about the warm climate orchids. One day at a large retail chain, I encountered a Paphiopedilum primulinum. Off I went to research. I bought that orchid and another. I was only going to have 6 orchids. It was a promise I didn’t keep. Since that time I have become an orchid judge, volunteered endless hours of time and expertise and financial contributions. Why? I have a personal connection to the organization. The American Orchid Society provides a wealth of information for individuals and affiliated orchid societies.
