2023/11 November ORCHIDS Magazine

In 1972, Rebecca Northen said the "preservation of the Lankester Botanical Gardens in Costa Rica is the greatest conservation effort made by those who love orchids....." This year, the Gardens celebrate 50 years of research, conservation and education and our November issue features an article about their history and future by Franco Pupulin. Johan Hermans, Landy Rajaovelona and Phillip Cribb describe a new species of Aeranthes, Aeranthes bigibbum, from Madagascar and Tomás Rodríguez-Cabrera and Robert Fuchs discuss pollination in Catasetum, known for their often remarkably dissimilar male and females flowers. Rounding out or November features is an article by David Sorokowsky on the culture of multifloral paphiopedilums.
